²³ But unlike his father Manasseh, Amon didn’t submit before the Lord; instead, Amon increased his guilt. ²⁴ His own officials plotted against him and killed him in his palace. ²⁵ The people of the land then executed all those who had plotted against King Amon and made his son Josiah the next king.
